Professor Emran Bin Yunus is an Internist and Nephrologist presently affiliated with Center for Specialized Care and Research, Chattogram. He is currently Elective Exchange Coordinator of CMC-Oxford Collaboration. It’s an opportunity he engineered in 2006 and has been continuing till now, by that every year two final year MBBS students, top scorer boy and girl of CMC in First Professional MBBS exam are attending as Final Year Students of Oxford Medical School for few weeks, DFID UK has been funding. He worked as a Medicine Faculty Member of University of Chittagong, BCPS, and others. Began as the Lecturer of Physiology, he was Professor and Head of Nephrology, Vice Principal and Principal of Chittagong Medical College before his golden handshake from Health Service of Bangladesh. A 15 Batch alumnus of Chittagong Medical College he obtained his FCPS in Internal Medicine from BCPS and conferred with FRCP by RCP Edinburgh. He has experience of working in many institutions in home and abroad as a part of advance training and operational research programs and groups. Professionally he was and has been engaged with teaching, training, examiner ship, nephrological clinical service, medical journal editing and research. He is a member of core committees and executive bodies of many national, regional and international agencies related with medical education, research and professional pursuits and social organizations as well. He was the founder general secretary Bangladesh Kidney foundation and through the dynamic social movement Nephrological Services were introduced at CMCH long before the establishment of Nephrology Unit with IPD in 1986. Apart this he is a consultant scientist and GCP monitor of Tropical Disease Research wing of World Health Organization. He has many research publications and chapter contributions in his credit. He was the pioneer research investigator to detect Dengue in Bangladesh and was the Editor of National Guidelines for Clinical management of Dengue Syndrome, First through third Editions, the other one is National Malaria Guideline. He was awarded with National Science & Technology Award, CMC Alumni Association Golden Jubilee Celebration Award for Research, Lifetime Achievement Recognitions by CMC Alumni Association of North America and BMA North America, Recognition for Education and Training Dissemination by CMC Alumni of Australia and New Zealand. He was one of the co-winner of the globally reputed the British Medical Journal Group Award for the best research publication in 2010. He is a frequent traveler and was involved in research monitoring and consultancy in countries of South East Asia and Africa. His interest is in Dialysis Adequacy, Access, Affordability, Compliance and Outcome plus Medical Professionalism. With a son, a daughter, and add-on daughter and add-on son, who are accountant and doctors and engineer respectively; a girlfriend off son and add-on daughter and with the memory of his spouse Professor Nayeema Akhter he has been passing his mix up time being delved into family, profession, driving, photography, green endeavor, electronics and reading.
